How to choose an adjustable bench

An adjustable gym bench covers flat, incline and, on some models, decline work, so one bench covers most pressing and rowing work. Points to compare:

  • Angle range. Check how many backrest positions a bench offers and whether it goes into decline. The TB-68 has 7 levels, from flat to near-upright; the TB-20 has 14 positions from decline through flat to incline; the TB-44 has 10 back positions from flat to steep incline.
  • Locking mechanism. On the TB-68 you pull the locking pin beneath the seat, slide the backrest support bar to the angle you want, then release the pin to lock it.
  • Frame. Tubing size and base design affect how steady a bench feels under load. The TB-68 uses 115mm-wide, 3mm-thick steel tubing with triangular reinforcement and is rated to 700kg; the TB-44 is rated to 500kg and the TB-20 to 300kg.
  • Padding and mobility. Thicker pads add comfort, and wheels with a handle make a heavy bench easier to move around a home gym.

Common questions

What is the difference between a flat gym bench and an adjustable weight bench?

A flat bench stays in one position. An adjustable model lets you change the backrest angle, so you can move from flat pressing to incline work without swapping equipment.

Which bench suits a light commercial gym?

The TB-68 is our light commercial adjustable bench, with reinforced steel tubing, 80mm-thick padding and wheels for easy repositioning.

What does a roman chair train?

The roman chair targets the lower back, glutes, hamstrings and core. It suits bodyweight and weighted back extensions for beginners through to experienced lifters.

Can I try a bench before buying?

Yes, visit one of our showrooms. Please call ahead to check whether a specific model is on display.
